Chandigarh:  Reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy against organised crime, Haryana Police has executed one of its most extensive state-wide crackdowns this year. Under “Operation Trackdown”, a special drive carried out on 14 November 2025, police teams across all districts arrested 257 accused in a single day—striking directly at criminal networks operating in the state.

The operation, launched at the direction of the Director General of Police (DGP) of Haryana, focused on nabbing hardened offenders, fugitives, and suspects wanted in severe cases. Of the total arrests, 76 were dreaded criminals involved in heinous crimes, while 181 others were apprehended in various wanted and pending cases.

Major Breakthroughs in Heinous Crime Cases

During the day-long crackdown, police registered 42 fresh FIRs related to grave offences such as murder, attempt to murder, extortion, and illegal arms possession. These investigations led to the arrest of 62 criminals, all of whom have been incarcerated.

Key highlights include: 23 arrests made in 9 murder cases, 16 arrests in 13 attempt-to-murder cases, 15 accused arrested in 14 Arms Act cases involving illegal weapons. Police officials stated that the operation significantly disrupted several active crime modules and rival gangs operating in various districts.

History-Sheeters Brought Under Tight Watch

To maintain sustained pressure on repeat offenders, Haryana Police also opened 13 new history sheets during the operation. The move places these criminals under constant surveillance, strengthening the monitoring of their activities.

With these additions, the total number of history sheets opened so far under Operation Trackdown has risen to 131, marking a strategic shift towards long-term crime prevention and intelligence-driven policing.

Statewide Coordination, Strong Police Presence

Senior officers said the drive involved coordinated efforts of district police, crime units, and specialised teams, ensuring swift action against criminals across both urban and rural jurisdictions. “Operation Trackdown has delivered a strong message that Haryana Police will not allow organised crime to flourish. Our teams acted with precision, backed by intelligence and strong inter-district coordination,” an official said. The police have indicated that these operations will continue in phases to ensure lasting peace and safety in the state.
