Haryana’s Police Crackdown at 768 Locations, 137 Arrested

Chandigarh: Haryana Police executed a sweeping, statewide crackdown on crime and narcotics under ‘Operation Hot-spot Domination’, conducting coordinated raids across 768 crime-prone locations on December 7. The day-long operation led to the arrest of 137 offenders, including 17 notorious and long-wanted criminals, while 81 fresh cases—including seven under the Arms Act—were registered.

Police seized a significant haul of illegal weapons, including four country-made pistols, four local guns, and two live cartridges, and recovered narcotics such as 29.88 grams of heroin, 1.44 kg ganja, 7,380 kg poppy husk, 350+ liquor bottles, 65 beer bottles, 126 litres of illicit liquor, and 96 litres of lahan. Cash worth ₹1,53,510, five two-wheelers, and three mobile phones were also confiscated during raids targeting illegal gambling, betting, and drug trafficking operations.

Humanitarian Policing & Intelligence Sharing Strengthen Operation

Alongside the crackdown, Haryana Police highlighted its humanitarian role, assisting 709 distressed individuals during patrols across the state. Officers ensured that vulnerable persons on roadsides and public places received immediate support.

To enhance inter-state vigilance, Haryana Police shared 26 critical intelligence reports with neighbouring states. District-level performance was led by Sonipat, which conducted raids at 65 hotspots, while Gurugram Police provided the maximum humanitarian assistance, helping 377 people. The Government Railway Police (GRP) carried out checks at 68 locations, tightening security for rail passengers.

In Kurukshetra, police raided 15 hotspots, registering 10 FIRs and arresting 11 accused, while Sirsa Police raided 47 locations, unsettling drug networks operating in the region.

Rapid Response in Panchkula: Lives Saved, Women Assisted at Midnight

Panchkula Police’s Dial-112 Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) teams demonstrated exemplary readiness and sensitivity in two major incidents over the weekend. In the first, six residents trapped inside a malfunctioning lift in Sector-17 were safely rescued by ERV-708, led by Shakti Singh, Home Guard Hari Singh, and SPO Ram Singh. Their swift action prevented a potential tragedy.

In another late-night operation, ERV-709 discovered two young women stranded at the deserted Old Panchkula Bus Stand around 1 a.m. After learning they had missed their ride to Shimla, the police ensured their safe drop-off at home in Chuna Bhatti. Their families reportedly became emotional upon their safe return and expressed deep gratitude to the police.

Faridabad Police Arrest Four in ₹20 Lakh Cyber Frauds; Recovers 51% Lost Money.

Faridabad Cyber Police made significant breakthroughs in two cyber-fraud cases involving SIM upgrade deception and Telegram-based task scams totalling over ₹20 lakh. In the first case, a Sector-14 woman was defrauded of ₹11.22 lakh through an e-SIM upgrade scam. Police arrested Aniket Singh, an MBA student, and Rajan Kumar Rai, a finance employee from Dhanbad, Jharkhand.

In the second case, scammers lured a Sector-77 man into a Telegram prepaid task and a Google Maps rating scam, cheating him of ₹9.34 lakh. Accused Atul and Mohit—students from Mathura—were arrested for providing bank accounts to cyber criminals for commission.

State-level data revealed that the 1930 Cyber Helpline has been highly effective. Of the recent 248 complaints involving ₹54.16 lakh, police managed to freeze ₹27.73 lakh (51.21%) before criminals could withdraw it, arrested six cyber offenders, and refunded ₹2.65 lakh to victims. Police urged the public to exercise caution with online links and financial offers and to report suspicious activity to 1930 immediately.
