Crime-Control Roadmap For 2026: Strengthening Crime Prevention, Intelligence Gathering, Public Outreach, and Enforcement.
Karnal| Chandigarh: A high-level strategy and review meeting was held at the Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban(Karnal), on Sunday to finalise the crime-control roadmap and operational priorities for 2026. The meeting was chaired by O. P. Singh, Director General of Police, Haryana, and attended by all senior IPS officers, including ADGPs, IGs, Police Commissioners, Range DIGs and district heads.
The session undertook a comprehensive review of policing challenges, achievements, and field experiences in 2025, followed by detailed deliberations on strengthening crime prevention, intelligence gathering, public outreach, and enforcement strategies for the coming year. Emphasising the need to stay ahead of evolving threats, the DGP said policing in Haryana must be result-oriented, proactive and rooted in public trust, while remaining responsive to emerging security challenges.
Relentless Action Against Habitual Offenders
Issuing firm directions, the DGP said habitual and multi-case offenders, especially those out on bail, must be placed under continuous surveillance. District SPs were instructed to personally review such cases and move the court for cancellation of bail whenever repeat criminal activity is apprehended.
Reiterating zero tolerance against narcotics, the DGP ordered the preparation of detailed history sheets of NDPS offenders, the identification of their illegally acquired properties, and the initiation of legal proceedings for attachment and freezing of assets to break the economic backbone of drug syndicates. He also stressed the need for regular reviews of rehabilitation and de-addiction centres to assess recovery outcomes and ensure meaningful reintegration.
Counter-Terror Preparedness, Cybercrime Focus
Reviewing terror-related incidents of recent years, the meeting noted that all cases were successfully traced without loss of life. The DGP directed officers to strengthen coordination with central and inter-state agencies further to ensure swift, intelligence-driven, and coordinated responses to any future threats.
With cybercrime emerging as a significant challenge, Singh instructed that district-level cyber units be strengthened on the lines of specialised cyber cells, enabling faster response, better investigations and timely relief to victims of online fraud and digital offences.
Sustained Special Drives, Protection of Youth
Special operations such as ‘Track Down’ and ‘Hotspot Domination’ will continue in a sustained manner to trace absconders, dominate crime-prone areas and reinforce public confidence, the DGP said. He also laid special emphasis on strict action against elements targeting children and youth, including those luring them into drugs, gambling or criminal activities, calling it critical to safeguarding Haryana’s future.
Concluding the meeting, DGP O.P. Singh reminded officers that public trust is the police force’s greatest strength. “Your work defines your excellence,” he said, urging officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and sensitivity. He added that the 2026 strategy framework finalised at the meeting would guide Haryana Police in further strengthening law and order, internal security and citizen-centric policing, with a sharper focus on technology-driven and intelligence-led operations
