Chandigarh: Punjabi actor and comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi has strongly refuted allegations of financial and personal misconduct that recently surfaced on social media, terming them “completely false and fabricated” and announcing legal action against those responsible.
The controversy began after a Canada-based YouTuber claimed that Ghuggi had allegedly given ₹5 crore to an actress and hinted at a personal relationship between the two. The claims quickly went viral, triggering widespread speculation online.
Responding publicly, Ghuggi dismissed the allegations outright and accused certain individuals of attempting to tarnish his reputation. He emphasised that his over three-decade-long career has been built on “hard work, integrity and honesty”.
Cyber Complaint Filed, Probe Underway
The actor confirmed that he has filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Department, and that authorities have begun examining the matter. He said he is prepared to pursue legal action against those who spread misinformation.
Emotional Impact and Public Appeal
Ghuggi also spoke about the emotional toll of the controversy, stating that the false claims had affected not only him but also his family, colleagues and close associates. He cautioned against the growing trend of misinformation on digital platforms and its impact on public perception.
He thanked fans and social media creators, including Freshy Canadian and Italy Wala, for supporting him and helping trace the origins of the allegations. Urging the public to remain vigilant, Ghuggi appealed for unity against fake news and expressed gratitude to sections of the media that verified facts before reporting.
Reaffirming his belief in “Charddi Kala” (resilience and positivity), the actor said he remains focused on his work and will not allow baseless allegations to affect his life or career.
