Apple launches new 27-inch iMac with faster Intel processors


Apple has its new 27-inch iMac with faster Intel processors up to 10 cores, double the memory capacity, next-generation AMD graphics. The new 27-inch iMac also features a nano-texture glass option for Retina 5K display, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, higher fidelity speakers, and studio-quality mics.
The 27-inch iMac comes with the latest 6-core and 8-core 10th-generation Intel processors with Turbo Boost speeds reaching 5.0GHz for up to 65% faster CPU performance. The new iMac features double the memory capacity for up to 128GB.
For GPU-based rendering, editing multiple streams of 4K video, or playing a graphics-intensive game, the 27-inch iMac offers next-generation AMD graphics. The new iMac claims to deliver up to 55% faster graphics performance from its Radeon Pro 5000 series graphics, featuring AMD’s latest RDNA architecture with faster, more power-efficient compute units.
It features a graphics option with 16GB of memory for the first time — providing double the video memory capacity of the previous-generation 27-inch iMac.
The 27-inch iMac now comes standard with SSDs across the line along with an 8TB SSD option for the first time. The iMac also includes the Apple T2 Security Chip, Apple’s own custom-designed, second-generation silicon. The storage controller in the T2 Security Chip provides data encryption for everything stored on the SSD.
Featuring the Retina 5K display, the 27-inch iMac offers True Tone technology, which automatically adjusts the color temperature of the display to match a user’s ambient lighting.
The new iMac offers a nano-texture glass option — first introduced on Pro Display XDR — for even better viewing under various lighting conditions, such as a bright room or indirect sunlight.
The new 27-inch iMac comes at a starting price of $1,799 in the US and will be available this week itself. Meanwhile, starting at $1,099 (US) and $4,999 (US), respectively, the updated models of the 21.5-inch iMac and iMac Pro will be available as well.
