Bhiwani,  Nearly five days after the recovery of the body of 19-year-old schoolteacher Manisha near a canal in Singhani village, the investigation has taken a dramatic turn with police now focusing on the possibility of suicide.

Bhiwani SP Sumit Kumar on Saturday confirmed that a suicide note was recovered from Manisha’s bag along with some documents. He further revealed that the deceased had purchased insecticide from a shop near her school on August 11, the day she went missing.

The SP cited the preliminary postmortem report from PGIMS, Rohtak, which found no injury marks on her throat or other body parts and ruled out sexual assault at this stage. “Samples have been preserved for detailed forensic analysis,” he added.

Gruesome Autopsy Findings

The postmortem conducted by Dr Abhiney Gupta and Dr Pankaj Chhikara revealed a body in a state of advanced decomposition with several missing organs, severe damage to the skull, and a deep incised wound across the neck.

The report noted:

  • Head & Face: Scalp hair entangled in mud and weeds, skull vault separated, brain tissue largely missing, both eyeballs absent, soft tissues of the face destroyed.

  • Neck & Chest: Tongue, thyroid, hyoid, and pharynx missing; skull base fractured. Both lungs and the heart are absent.

  • Abdominal Cavity: Stomach, liver portions, spleen, kidneys, uterus, and ovaries missing. No ligature marks were observed.

The autopsy also confirmed that the body was smeared with mud and vegetation and emitting a strong foul smell at the time of recovery. Swabs and smears have been preserved for laboratory testing.

Timeline of Events

  • August 11: Manisha, who taught at a private school in Singhani (6 km from her native Dhani Laxman village), went missing after visiting a nursing college to inquire about admission. She was last seen purchasing insecticide from a local shop owned by one Devender.

  • August 13: Her body was discovered near a canal on the village outskirts. Police registered a murder case, triggering widespread outrage.

  • August 16: Following public protests and her family’s refusal to cremate the body, CM Nayab Singh Saini ordered the transfer of then-SP Manbir Singh and the suspension of five police personnel for negligence.

Public Outrage and Government Action

The incident sparked anger in Bhiwani, with locals staging a dharna in Dighawa town demanding justice. The state government assured strict action, with the CM warning officers against lapses in law and order.

While police now highlight the possibility of suicide based on the recovered note and circumstantial evidence, the shocking condition of the body and the missing organs continue to fuel speculation, leaving the investigation under close public and media scrutiny.
