Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday pitched the state as one of India’s most promising investment destinations while holding high-level meetings with leading Japanese business leaders and financial institutions during the first day of his official visit to Japan.

The Chief Minister held detailed deliberations with representatives of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Aisan Industry, Yamaha, Honda Motor, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Toray Industries, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Fujitsu Ltd, and several other major corporations.

During these interactions, Mann strongly advocated a strategic partnership between Punjab and Japan in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, electric mobility, electronics, food processing, renewable energy, and global services. He urged Japanese companies to explore the new industrial opportunities emerging in Punjab as the state reshapes its economy around technology-driven and sustainable growth.

Invitation to Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2026

The Chief Minister formally invited Japanese investors to participate in the 6th Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit, scheduled to be held from March 13 to 15, 2026, at the ISB campus in Mohali. He said the summit would serve as a global platform to showcase Punjab’s transformation, attract international investments, and promote long-term industrial partnerships.

“Punjab and Japan share values of trust, quality, and long-term commitment. Our government is fully dedicated to further strengthening this historic relationship,” Mann said.

Punjab’s Transformation from Agrarian to Industrial Powerhouse

Outlining his government’s vision, Mann said Punjab, long known for its agricultural leadership and contribution to national food security, is now moving ahead with a renewed vision of becoming a hub of modern industry, technology, and global collaboration.

He described Punjab as a land of courage, resilience, entrepreneurship, and creativity, adding that the state’s skilled workforce and strong infrastructure make it an ideal destination for global investors.

“Our goal is to build a future of shared prosperity through strong economic and cultural ties with Japan,” he said.

Strong Track Record of Japanese Companies in Punjab

Batting for deeper engagement with Japanese industry, the Chief Minister pointed out that several Japanese companies are already operating successfully in Punjab, reflecting their strong confidence in the state’s business ecosystem.

“Punjab and Japan share a culture of discipline, trust, and long-term partnership. This synergy can be a turning point in Punjab’s next phase of industrial transformation,” he added.

Japanese Firms Show Keen Investment Interest

Buoyed by the warm reception and proactive approach of the Punjab government, Japanese companies expressed strong interest in investing in the state. They showed particular enthusiasm for sectors linked to automotive components, electronics, clean energy, and high-end manufacturing.

The Chief Minister said that these investments would not only create large-scale employment opportunities for Punjab’s youth but also give a major boost to the state’s economic growth and industrial expansion. He assured Japanese investors of full government support and facilitation at every level, stating that accelerating industrial development is a top priority of his government.
