9.8 crore farmers await Rs 2,000 transfer as government finalises logistics; eligibility checks and e-KYC crucial for payment
New Delhi, July 13:
More than 9.8 crore farmers across India are eagerly awaiting the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, which is expected to be disbursed later this month. While the installment typically arrives in February, June, and October, this time the June cycle appears delayed, with no official announcement yet from the government.
However, sources indicate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may release the next tranche in July during a dedicated event, details of which are likely to be announced soon.
Why the Delay? No Official Reason Yet
Unlike previous cycles, no formal communication has been issued regarding the delay, leading to growing concerns among beneficiaries. The 19th installment of Rs 2,000 per eligible farmer was credited in February 2025, and farmers expected the 20th to follow the usual three-month gap.
With no explanation provided so far, several reports speculate that administrative coordination and the possibility of a mass beneficiary outreach event by the Prime Minister may have led to the delay.
Who is Eligible to Receive the 20th Installment?
As per the guidelines available on the official PM-Kisan website (pmkisan.gov.in):
✅ Eligible Beneficiaries:

All landholding farmer families with cultivable land in their names.
-
There is no landholding size limit — even those owning more than 2 hectares are now eligible.
❌ Exclusions:

-
Institutional landholders (companies, trusts, etc.)

A practicing professional such as a doctor, lawyer, engineer, CA, or architect.
-
Also, land being used for non-agricultural purposes is not eligible under the scheme, even if the title is in the name of a farmer.
“Agriculture land being used for non-agricultural purposes will not be covered for benefit under the scheme,” the FAQ section of the PM-Kisan portal states.
Checklist for Securing Your PM-Kisan Payment
To ensure timely receipt of the 20th installment, beneficiaries must complete the following:
🔹 e-KYC Completion – Mandatory for all beneficiaries. No e-KYC = No installment.
🔹 Aadhaar-Bank Linking – Bank account must be linked with Aadhaar.
🔹 Correct Bank Details – IFSC code and account number should be updated and accurate.
🔹 Land Record Accuracy – Your land ownership details should be digitally verified.
🔹 Mobile Number Update – Required for OTP verification and official alerts.

How to Complete e-KYC for the PM Kisan Scheme?
Eligible farmers must complete their e-KYC as soon as possible to avoid being dropped from the list. It can be done in two ways:
-
Online via the official PM-Kisan portal – using Aadhaar-linked OTP.
-
Offline at the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC).
Note: Incomplete or mismatched KYC data is the top reason for failed payments.
When Will PM Modi Release the 20th Instalment?
While there’s no confirmed date yet, government insiders suggest that PM Narendra Modi is likely to release the 20th instalment in July, possibly through a national-level farmers’ event. The last such release occurred in February 2025 for the 19th instalment.
