Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, 89, has been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for several days and is reported to be in a serious but stable condition, industry sources said on Monday.
According to an insider familiar with the development, the actor has been “in and out of the hospital” in recent weeks due to age-related health complications. “Dharamji’s health is not in a great state,” the insider told this newspaper on condition of anonymity.
The legendary star of classics such as Sholay, Chupke Chupke and Phool Aur Patthar has been receiving treatment at the South Mumbai facility, where doctors continue to monitor his condition closely. However, clarifying speculation on social media about his health, a representative for Dharmendra’s son and actor Sunny Deol dismissed reports that the veteran star had been put on a ventilator. “Dharam ji is still in the hospital. The doctors have not advised him to go home. He is recovering and is under observation. He is not on a ventilator,” the spokesperson said.
Dharmendra, often referred to as Bollywood’s “He-Man,” continues to remain under medical supervision. The actor, who has worked in over 300 films spanning a career of six decades, was last seen on screen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani (2023), where he played a charming supporting role alongside Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. Family members and close friends have urged fans to avoid speculation and pray for his speedy recovery.
