New Delhi: August 19: In a significant boost to Uttar Pradesh’s industrial growth, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has allotted nearly 200 acres of land in Sector-10 to Escorts Kubota Limited for setting up a ₹4,500-crore tractor manufacturing facility.

The announcement follows an MoU signed with the UP government on August 17, 2024. According to YEIDA, the project is expected to create over 4,000 jobs in phases while strengthening India’s position in the global agricultural machinery sector.

In the first phase, Escorts Kubota will invest ₹2,000 crore to develop a tractor manufacturing plant, a commercial equipment unit, and allied facilities. The second phase will be scaled up depending on market demand and the capacity utilisation of the initial unit, the authority said in its statement on Monday.

The project will not only cater to India’s domestic agricultural and industrial needs but will also serve export markets, boosting India’s credentials as a global manufacturing hub. The company also plans to set up shared services for Kubota’s global R&D operations from India, further positioning the country as a key node in Kubota’s worldwide network.

Escorts Kubota, formed in 2019 as a joint venture between India’s Escorts Group and Japan’s Kubota Corporation, is engaged in producing tractors, engines, farm machinery, and construction equipment. The new YEIDA facility is expected to accelerate its growth strategy and contribute to India’s aspiration of becoming a global centre for agri-machinery manufacturing.
