Ferozepur: Four members of a family, including two minor girls, were found dead under mysterious circumstances at their residence in Harman Nagar, Ferozepur, on Thursday, triggering shock and grief in the neighbourhood.

The deceased have been identified as Amandeep Singh, his wife Jasveer Kaur, and their two daughters—Manveer Kaur (10) and Parmeet Kaur (6). Preliminary investigations suggest the incident may be a case of murder-suicide, police said.

According to initial findings, Amandeep Singh allegedly shot his wife and daughters dead with his licensed revolver before turning the weapon on himself. The bodies were discovered after neighbours raised an alarm when the house remained locked for an extended period and repeated calls went unanswered.

Neighbours Alert Police

Residents of the locality said the family was generally reserved and no recent disputes had come to light. Concern grew when the house remained closed throughout the day and showed no movement inside. Neighbours eventually informed the police, who broke open the door and found all four lying dead inside the house. Police sources said the revolver was recovered from the spot.

Preliminary Police Assessment

Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh said that, based on the evidence available so far, the incident appeared to be a case of suicide by the husband after killing his family.

“On the face of it, it seems that Amandeep Singh killed his wife and daughters before taking his own life. However, all angles are being thoroughly investigated to establish the exact sequence of events and the motive,” the SSP said.

Background of the Family

Police said Amandeep Singh was engaged in property dealings and construction work, while his wife, Jasveer Kaur, ran a beauty parlour from home. The family had been living in the area for some time.

Investigators are looking into possible financial stress, personal issues or other factors that may have led to the extreme step. Statements of neighbours, relatives and close associates are being recorded as part of the probe.

Forensic Examination Underway

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and forensic teams are examining the crime scene for ballistic and other evidence to corroborate the preliminary theory. Police said the post-mortem reports and forensic findings would be crucial in confirming the cause and timing of deaths.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over Harman Nagar, with residents describing it as deeply disturbing. Many gathered outside the house as news of the tragedy spread, expressing disbelief over the loss of an entire family.

Police have appealed to the public to refrain from speculation until the investigation is complete, assuring that no possibility will be ruled out in determining what led to the tragic deaths.
