Faridabad: A day after a 25-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped inside a moving van through the night and thrown out of the speeding vehicle, chilling details have emerged highlighting the extreme brutality of the crime, evoking memories of the 2012 Nirbhaya rape case that shook the nation.

According to the victim’s family, the woman—a mother of three—was threatened with death when she screamed for help. The two accused allegedly took turns to rape her inside the van and later dumped her on a deserted stretch of the Gurgaon–Faridabad road after driving around for nearly three hours.

Police said the two accused—one from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Madhya Pradesh, both residing in Faridabad—have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. The Maruti Eeco van used in the crime has also been seized.

Victim Stable, Undergoing Treatment

The woman was admitted to a private hospital on Wednesday night with severe head and facial injuries, requiring more than 12 stitches, police said.
“The victim’s condition is stable and she is undergoing treatment,” said Amit Yadav, Director of the private hospital. Family members said the survivor remained unconscious and unable to speak for long periods following the assault.

Sequence of Events

Recapping the incident, police said that according to the complaint filed by the victim’s sister, the woman had argued with her mother on Monday evening and left for a friend’s house in Sector 23, Faridabad.

As it got late, she took an autorickshaw to NIT-2 Chowk, walked to Metro Chowk, and waited until around midnight for another autorickshaw to Kalyanpuri. At that point, the two men allegedly offered her a lift.

Instead of taking her home, they drove towards Gurugram, raped her inside the moving van, and continued driving through the night. Around 3 am, the accused allegedly threw her out of the vehicle near Raja Chowk, leaving her seriously injured on the roadside. Given her critical condition, the family decided to shift her to a private hospital for immediate treatment.

Political Reactions, Law & Order Questioned

Haryana Congress president Rao Narender Singh, who visited the victim at the hospital on Thursday, described the incident as “inhumane and heinous” and raised serious questions over the law and order situation in Haryana.

“I saw the victim, unconscious and unable to speak, with severe injuries on her face. Law and order have collapsed in Haryana, exposing the BJP government that boasts of women’s safety,” Singh said, demanding that the case be tried in a fast-track court.

Echoes of a Dark Past

The manner in which the woman was assaulted inside a moving vehicle on a cold December night and thrown onto a deserted road has triggered widespread outrage, with many drawing parallels to the Nirbhaya case, which led to sweeping legal reforms but continues to haunt public memory. Police officials said the investigation is underway and assured that the case would be pursued with utmost seriousness, even as the incident once again reignites concerns over women’s safety in the NCR region.
