Chandigarh: The Haryana government on Monday officially notified Hansi as a separate district, taking the total number of districts in the state to 23. According to the notification, issued under the Haryana Land Revenue Act, 1887 and the Registration Act, 1908, the limits of Hisar district have been altered to carve out the new district of Hansi. The newly constituted district will comprise the Hansi and Narnaund subdivisions, which earlier formed part of Hisar.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by law, the Governor of Haryana hereby varies the limits and alters the number of sub-divisions of district Hisar to form a new district to be called Hansi,” the notification stated. The decision fulfils a long-pending demand of residents of the Hansi region, who have been seeking district status to improve administrative access and faster delivery of government services.
Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the land registration process across the state has been made entirely online, significantly reducing scope for corruption.
“People can now apply for land registration from their homes. Tehsildars are bound to complete registrations within a fixed timeframe,” Saini said in a statement. He added that if a tehsildar fails to complete a registration on time, a written explanation must be submitted. “If the explanation is found unsatisfactory, disciplinary action will be initiated, and the responsibility transferred to a senior officer,” the Chief Minister warned.
