Chandigarh: Buoyed by the success of its statewide crime crackdown, the Haryana Police has extended its 15-day mega drive, ‘Operation Hotspot Domination’, by another week, intensifying pressure on criminal networks across the state.
Launched from December 1 to 15, the operation involved intensive combing of 11,122 identified crime-prone hotspots, resulting in the registration of 1,213 fresh criminal cases and the arrest of 2,899 accused. The coordinated action led to seizures worth nearly Rs 1.8 crore, including over Rs 54 lakh in cash, narcotics, illegal arms, vehicles and other materials used in criminal activities. Encouraged by the visible deterrent effect and intelligence gains, the police leadership has decided to continue the operation for another week.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, while reviewing the operation at a State-Level Security Conference in Panchkula, lauded the police for what he described as a decisive step towards strengthening law and order. The Chief Minister commended the force for its professional conduct, inter-district coordination and outcome-oriented strategy, calling the operation a reflection of Haryana Police’s operational capability and commitment to public safety.
Absconders, Arms Networks Targeted
A key focus of the drive was the arrest of absconding and violent offenders, leading to the apprehension of 538 such criminals. Police also registered 117 cases under the Arms Act, arresting 161 persons and recovering 136 illegal firearms and 171 live cartridges, dealing a significant blow to illegal arms syndicates operating in the state.
Among districts, Gurugram emerged as the top performer, with action taken at 801 hotspots and 569 arrests made. In addition to enforcement, Gurugram Police extended humanitarian support to over 2,500 needy persons amid the ongoing cold wave.
Bhiwani ranked second, arresting 272 offenders, while significant recoveries were reported from Sonipat, including spurious food items and illegal metal wiring. Kaithal and Palwal recorded notable recoveries in property-related offences.
Major Blow to Drug and Liquor Mafias
The operation delivered a strong economic удар to drug and liquor syndicates, with large quantities of poppy husk, ganja, opium, charas and heroin seized. Police also recovered thousands of bottles of illicit liquor, along with lahan and beer. Vehicles and equipment used in criminal activities—including cars, motorcycles, trucks, tractors and mobile phones—were confiscated during the drive.
Administrative Measures and Public Outreach
As part of the intensified crackdown, 34 Look Out Circulars (LOCs) were issued, while passport cancellation was recommended for 37 offenders. To enhance inter-state coordination, 679 intelligence inputs were shared with neighbouring states. At the same time, police personnel assisted 8,852 distressed and vulnerable citizens, reinforcing the message that Haryana Police’s approach combines enforcement with public service. With the operation now extended, Haryana Police aims to sustain pressure on criminal elements and consolidate the gains achieved during the initial phase.
