IED and Hand Grenades Recovered

Chandigarh: In a significant breakthrough against organised crime, the Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana Police’s Karnal Unit has arrested a dreaded operative of the Lawrence Bishnoi–Kala Rana/Nauni Rana gang and recovered deadly explosive material, including two live hand grenades and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The operation has averted what police say could have been a large-scale terror strike in Karnal and adjoining districts.

Arrest on Secret Intelligence, Glock Pistol Seized

The arrested accused has been identified as Amar Singh alias Muchh, a highly dangerous criminal with a long history of involvement in murders, kidnappings and armed robberies. Acting on precise intelligence inputs, a team led by Inspector Deependra Singh, in charge of STF Karnal, laid a trap on November 25 and apprehended Amar Singh from the Karnal–Indri Road while he was travelling in a Ford Endeavour.

During the search, the STF recovered a foreign-made automatic Glock pistol along with live cartridges from his possession. He was produced before a court the following day, which granted a six-day police remand for sustained interrogation.

Explosives Hidden Near Karn Lake, Major Disaster Prevented

During custodial interrogation, Amar Singh made a shocking disclosure that he had brought high-grade explosive material to Karnal on the instructions of gang leader Nauni Rana to execute a major criminal act. He revealed that the explosives had been buried at a secluded location near the highway.

Acting swiftly on this input, STF teams, accompanied by the Bomb Disposal Squad and FSL experts, recovered two live hand grenades and one IED on November 27 from behind Karn Lake near the village Jhinjhari. The devices were safely defused on the spot, preventing a potentially massive tragedy.

Senior police officers confirmed that the recovered explosives were in fully operational condition and could have caused large-scale casualties.

Gang’s Violent Network Under Scanner

The investigation has revealed that the Lawrence Bishnoi–Kala Rana gang was preparing to execute a major violent operation in Karnal and nearby districts. Gangster Kala Rana and his father Joginder Singh are already lodged in jail under UAPA and organised crime cases, but their active associates outside were working to revive operations.

Police believe the recovery of explosives indicates an escalation in the gang’s operational capabilities beyond conventional firearms.

History-Sheeter with Multiple Murders to His Name

Amar Singh alias Muchh has been active across Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh and is wanted in several heinous cases, including:

  • The brutal triple murder of a political leader, his driver and a gunman on the Noida–Ghaziabad border.

  • Kidnapping and murder of a youth in the Ambala district.

  • Armed robbery of an Army officer’s vehicle at a dhaba in Yamunanagar.

  • Multiple cases under the Murder, Arms Act, Gangster Act, Criminal Conspiracy and Looting provisions in Noida and Ghaziabad.

Police officials described him as a “highly radicalised and execution-level operative” of the gang.

Zero-Tolerance Message from Haryana STF

Senior officers stated that this operation reflects Haryana Police’s zero-tolerance approach towards organised crime and terror-linked gang networks. The timely arrest and explosive recovery have not only dismantled an active terror cell but also saved countless innocent lives.

“The gang intended to carry out a high-impact strike. This arrest and recovery is a decisive blow to their network,” a senior STF officer said. The investigation is continuing to trace financial links, weapon suppliers and foreign handlers connected with the gang.
