Chandigarh: Stepping up its crackdown on objectionable digital content, the Haryana Police has facilitated the removal of 857 online links associated with rapper Badshah’s song “Tateeree”, officials said. According to data released by the Haryana Police, the action has resulted in the take down of 154 YouTube videos and 703 Instagram Reels under the Legal Framework.

Police officials said the removals were carried out in coordination with social media platforms and within the legal framework, following notices issued to ensure deletion of all versions of the song, including re-uploads, short videos and other formats. The action was initiated over concerns that the content contained derogatory language against women and minors.

Strict Warning Issued

Haryana Director General of Police Ajay Singhal said the state would not tolerate content that violates the dignity of women and children. “Strict legal action will continue against such content,” he said, adding that digital surveillance has been intensified to ensure compliance.

Additional Director General of Police and Panchkula Commissioner Sibas Kabiraj warned that individuals who share or create content using the song could face legal action, including the blocking of social media accounts.

“Anyone found creating or sharing reels, shorts or videos featuring the banned song will face strict action. Repeat offenders may be booked under stringent provisions,” he said.

FIR and Ongoing Probe

The action follows an FIR registered at the Cyber Police Station, Sector 20, Panchkula, where police are investigating the matter.

Officials said police teams are continuously monitoring digital platforms to identify accounts involved in circulating the content.

The state government, led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe and responsible digital environment, officials added.
