Chandigarh: In a statewide virtual meeting chaired by Director General of Police (DGP) O.P. Singh, all Commissioners of Police, Superintendents of Police, and Station House Officers participated to chart the roadmap for a complete transformation in Haryana Police’s functioning.DGP Singh declared a new operational philosophy for the force — “Proactive Policing with a Fighting Fit and Working Order” — emphasising discipline, service, and citizen trust as the cornerstones of policing in Haryana. “Every police station must become a symbol of public trust, and every policeman must remain safe,” he said, adding that Haryana Police’s working style will now focus on coordination, responsiveness, and a citizen-first approach.
Police Stations to Be Upgraded in Two Weeks
The DGP directed the Haryana Police Housing Corporation (HPHC) to complete infrastructure upgrades at all police stations and posts within a fortnight.
He ordered immediate improvements in kitchens, washrooms, electrical wiring, and safety systems, stressing that every police station must appear “clean, safe, and organised.” Engineers have been made personally responsible for on-site inspections and timely compliance reports.
Policy of “Fighting Fit & in Working Order”
DGP Singh underlined that his foremost priority is to ensure the physical fitness, mental alertness, and operational readiness of every police personnel. “Mistakes during duty are human, but indiscipline and misconduct will not be tolerated,” he cautioned.
“We are not here to die, but to serve and protect our people. Anyone who attacks the police will face an immediate and lawful response.” He reaffirmed Haryana Police’s role as a “strong shield between citizens and criminals.”
Immediate Assistance to Martyrs’ Families
The DGP directed officers to ensure that the families of martyred police personnel receive timely financial and administrative support as per established rules.
He ordered status reports every 15 days and warned that no case involving martyr families should remain pending.
Focus on Communication, Courtesy, and Public Trust
All district officers have been instructed to increase field visits, engage with their personnel, and adopt a more empathetic and courteous approach with citizens.
DGP Singh urged the force to use polite expressions such as “Please, Sorry, and Thank You” to enhance the department’s image and rebuild trust with the public.
Active Role on Social Media
The DGP emphasised that the police must remain alert and active on social media, promptly countering misinformation.
He instructed all CPs and SPs to engage directly with citizens through digital platforms, TV, and community interactions to maintain transparency and credibility.
Stronger Coordination for Crime Control
The DGP directed that all police stations and posts must operate as a cohesive unit, sharing intelligence and adopting joint strategies for crime prevention.
He also directed the Haryana Police Academy Director, Arshinder Chawla, to focus on practical field training for new sub-inspectors and to discourage a “filmy” or unrealistic style of policing.
Crime Statistics Show Improvement
DGP Singh noted that rape cases in Haryana have declined by 50%, and overall crime has reduced significantly.
He said the successful implementation of new criminal laws has been lauded by the Union Home Minister, and that Haryana ranks among the top-performing states under the CCTNS system.
Emphasis on Discipline and Accountability
Reiterating that “Department first, convenience later,” DGP Singh instructed that officers posted in sensitive areas must not take leave without prior approval — SHOs must inform the IG, and SPs must seek clearance from the ADG (Law & Order).
DGP Vision -“Our mission is clear — every policeman must remain safe, every citizen must live without fear, and every police station must stand as a beacon of public trust.”
