Chandigarh: The Haryana State Commission for Women on Sunday issued a stern warning to rapper-musician Badshah, directing him to appear before the commission on March 13 in connection with alleged objectionable lyrics and visuals in his recently released Haryanvi music video Tateeree.”

Commission Chairperson Renu Bhatia said strict action would follow if the singer failed to comply with the summons, adding that any insult to the dignity of women—particularly the daughters of Haryana—would not be tolerated. Speaking to the media, she said the commission was taking the matter seriously and would pursue further legal measures if necessary.

“Disrespect to Daughters of Haryana Not Acceptable”

Bhatia criticised the rapper’s conduct and said his actions could not be easily pardoned. “Badshah’s actions are not pardonable. Disrespect to the daughters of Haryana will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” she said.

She further warned that if the singer avoided appearing before the commission, he could face restrictions on performing in the state. “If he chooses to run from the process, the Haryana State Commission for Women will not allow him to perform anywhere in Haryana,” she added.

Commission Unsatisfied with Apology

Bhatia also expressed dissatisfaction with the singer’s apology, stating that he had failed to explain his intentions behind the controversial lyrics clearly. “God has given such great music, voice and opportunity, but we are using such cheap words. Good things must be said to inspire and transform Gen-Z,” she said.

The commission chairperson emphasised that artists and content creators carry social responsibility and must be mindful of the impact their words and visuals have on young audiences. She further revealed that the process to issue a Look-Out Circular (LOC) against the rapper has already been initiated, warning that the case would serve as a message to other singers and digital content creators as well.

Three FIRs Over Controversial Song

Rapper-musician Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, popularly known as Badshah, was recently booked by the Haryana Police following complaints that his Haryanvi music video “Tateeree” contained objectionable lyrics and visuals allegedly insulting women. The controversy triggered strong reactions on social media and led to demands for action against the singer after three FIRs were lodged, one in Panchkula and two in Jind.

Badshah Issues Public Apology

Following the backlash and police action, Badshah uploaded a video message apologising for the song’s lyrics. In the video, he described himself as a “proud Haryanvi” and said it was never his intention to insult women or hurt sentiments. “I sincerely apologise if anyone felt hurt. I respect women and my culture,” he said, urging people to forgive him. Despite the apology, the Haryana Women’s Commission has insisted that the rapper must personally appear before the panel to clarify his position, signalling that the matter is far from closed.
