Amritsar: Arvind Kejriwal, national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Thursday paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar along with his wife and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann after a Delhi court dismissed allegations in the excise policy case against him and other party leaders.

Kejriwal said the visit to the shrine was to express gratitude after the court rejected the charges and observed that there was insufficient evidence to even proceed with a trial.

‘Truth Has Prevailed,’ Says Kejriwal

Addressing mediapersons after offering prayers, Kejriwal said several AAP leaders were jailed on what he described as fabricated allegations. “Five of our top leaders were sent to jail, and even a sitting Chief Minister was taken from his home at night. But the court has now said there was not even enough evidence to begin a trial,” he said.

Kejriwal termed the development a victory of truth and thanked Waheguru for the outcome. “This could not have happened without the blessings of Waheguru,” he said. Kejriwal says that in the past four years, significant work has been done in sectors such as education, healthcare and welfare schemes for women.

He added that the state government had prepared a comprehensive roadmap for the coming year, focusing on infrastructure development and employment generation. “With the support of the people of Punjab, we will take the state to the next level,” he said.

Mann Calls Verdict ‘Victory of Truth’

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said the court had clearly found the allegations against AAP leaders to be baseless. “The court has said there was not even a case to proceed with. Therefore, we have come here to thank the Almighty after the truth has prevailed,” Mann said. He added that the state government had presented a pro-people budget aimed at accelerating Punjab’s development and making it the number one state in the country.

Focus on Investment and Industry

The Chief Minister also highlighted the upcoming Invest Punjab Summit scheduled from March 13 to March 15, saying it would attract investors from India and abroad. According to Mann, companies from countries such as Japan, the United Kingdom, France and Switzerland are expected to explore investment opportunities in the state. He also noted that a ₹3,200-crore project by Tata Steel in Ludhiana is set to be inaugurated on March 20, which he said would significantly boost industrial growth and employment in Punjab. Both leaders said they prayed for the prosperity and welfare of Punjab and reaffirmed their commitment to serving the people with honesty and transparency.
