New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that 2025 will be remembered as a year of proud milestones for India, underlining that Operation Sindoor emerged as a symbol of national pride and India’s uncompromising stance on security.
Addressing the nation in the final episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat of 2025, Modi said India’s growing impact was visible across sectors — from national security and sports to science, culture and global platforms. “The year 2025 was one of proud milestones for India. Whether in national security, sports, scientific innovation or on the world’s biggest platforms, India’s impact was visible everywhere,” the Prime Minister said.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, Modi said the operation showcased the country’s collective spirit and unwavering resolve. “During Operation Sindoor, images of love and devotion towards Maa Bharti emerged from every corner of the nation. It became a symbol of pride for every Indian. The world witnessed clearly that today’s India does not compromise on its security,” he said.
The Prime Minister said the same patriotic fervour was evident during the celebrations marking 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’, noting the enthusiastic participation of citizens who shared messages and ideas under the hashtag #VandeMataram150.
Highlighting achievements in sports, Modi described 2025 as a memorable year for Indian athletics, citing the men’s cricket team’s victory in the ICC Champions Trophy, the women’s cricket team winning the World Cup for the first time, and India’s triumph in the Women’s Blind T20 World Cup. He also referred to India’s dominant win in the Asia Cup T20 and the impressive medal haul by para-athletes at world championships.
On scientific progress, Modi said India had taken giant strides in science and space, pointing out that Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian to reach the International Space Station. “Nations across the globe are deeply impressed by our achievements in science, constant innovations and the expansion of technology,” he said, adding that India’s youth power is the biggest reason the world looks towards the country with hope.
Touching upon environmental and cultural milestones, Modi noted that the cheetah population in India crossed 30 in 2025, while faith, culture and heritage came together in landmark events. “The Prayagraj Mahakumbh at the beginning of the year astonished the world, and at the end of the year, the Dhwajarohan ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya filled every Indian with pride,” he said. Concluding his address, the Prime Minister said 2025 reflected India’s growing confidence, unity and global stature, setting the stage for even greater achievements in the years ahead.
