Who is Nitin Nabin?

Nitin Nabin (born 23 May 1980 in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India) is an Indian politician and organisational leader who has risen steadily through the ranks of the BJP to become its 12th National President. He officially assumed office on 20 January 2026.

Early Life
  • Nabin is the son of Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, a veteran BJP leader in Bihar.

  • He hails from a politically active family, which laid the foundation for his early entrance into public life.

Political Career

Nitin Nabin’s political journey began in earnest after the untimely death of his father. In 2006, he contested his first election and secured a seat in the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Patna West, embarking on a consistent trajectory of electoral success.

Since then:

  • He switched to the Bankipur constituency after delimitation and has been re-elected consecutively, making him a five-time MLA in the Bihar Assembly.

  • Alongside his legislative roles, Nabin held several important portfolios in the Government of Bihar. He served as Minister of Road Construction, Minister of Urban Development & Housing, and Minister of Law & Justice at different points between 2021 and 2025, contributing to infrastructure development and urban policy initiatives.

Nabin’s organisational credentials within the BJP are equally notable:

  • He served as National General Secretary and State President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Bihar, demonstrating strong grassroots engagement and mobilisation skills.

  • He also took on responsibilities as the BJP in-charge for Sikkim and co-in-charge for Chhattisgarh, gaining experience in electoral strategy and campaign management.

In December 2025, the BJP parliamentary board appointed Nitin Nabin as National Working President, positioning him as the natural successor to the outgoing president. This step was seen widely as strategic grooming for the party’s top organisational role.
