Chandigarh: Amid reports of long queues at petrol pumps and concerns over fuel availability, Chief Ministers Nayab Singh Saini and Bhagwant Mann on Saturday asserted that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel or LPG in their respective states, urging people not to panic.

Haryana: Adequate Supply, Crackdown on Hoarding
Addressing a press conference, Saini said Haryana has 4,032 functional petrol pumps, with an average daily sale of:
  • 4,804 kilolitres of petrol
  • 12,003 kilolitres of diesel
He added that the state is receiving around 2 lakh LPG cylinders daily, with about 1.9 lakh being distributed, ensuring steady supply.
“Commercial LPG stocks are also sufficient, with 1.73 lakh cylinders available, and supplies to essential sectors like hospitals and schools are being prioritised,” he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Centre’s 70% allocation framework for commercial LPG and a 40% rise in domestic LPG production have strengthened supply chains.
To curb black marketing, authorities have registered eight FIRs and seized over 900 cylinders, he added.
Saini also announced a major reform to boost piped gas expansion, reducing the PNG pipeline lease charge from ₹3 lakh per km (for 10 years) to a one-time ₹1,000 per km, with a target of 13.33 lakh PNG connections in the state.
Punjab: Stocks Sufficient for 14 Days
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said the state has adequate fuel stocks for the next 14 days and dismissed rumours of any shortage or lockdown.
“There is no need to panic. We have sufficient petrol, diesel and LPG. Any talk of lockdown is baseless,” Mann said, adding that the government is closely coordinating with oil companies.
He attributed the temporary disruption at some fuel stations to panic buying, which led to unusual demand spikes.
Measures to Tackle Rumours
Mann said a nodal officer has been appointed to provide verified information to the media and counter misinformation.
Situation Under Control
Both states emphasised that supply chains remain intact, and urged citizens to avoid panic purchases, warning that rumours and hoarding could unnecessarily disrupt normal distribution.
The coordinated response comes amid broader concerns over fuel supplies due to the ongoing West Asia crisis, with governments focusing on maintaining stability and preventing artificial shortag
