Operation Trackdown Delivers Major Breakthrough in Haryana: 4,566 Criminals Arrested

Chandigarh: Haryana Police’s state-wide Operation Trackdown, launched on November 5, has dealt a decisive blow to criminal networks, prompting the government to extend the drive by another week. According to official data available till November 21, the police have arrested 1,439 notorious, wanted and serious offenders, along with 3,127 other accused, taking the total number of arrests to 4,566. The sustained action reflects the forceful impact and success of the ongoing crackdown.

The intensity of the operation was most visible on November 21, when police teams across districts arrested 47 notorious criminals, including key absconders and long-wanted offenders. On the same day, 293 other accused were also taken into custody.

Police also opened 17 new history sheets to maintain closer surveillance on anti-social elements whose activities pose a continuous threat.

Operation Trackdown Boosts Public Confidence, Hits Criminal Networks Hard

Operation Trackdown is now being viewed as one of Haryana Police’s most aggressive and result-oriented law-and-order drives. The mission focuses on-nabbing wanted and absconding criminals, targeting organised crime cartels, arresting notorious and repeat offenders and saturating high-crime zones with intensified surveillance.

Officials say the relentless crackdown has sent a strong message that criminals have no safe haven left in Haryana, significantly improving citizens’ confidence in public safety. In a swift development on November 21, the Crime Branch, Sector 10, Gurugram arrested Sumit and Sanjeev alias Sanju, both wanted in a gold chain snatching incident reported on November 17 in Sector 45. The FIR was lodged at Police Station Sector 40. Investigations revealed that,Sanju is involved in 11 serious cases. Sumit has 10 cases registered against him. Their criminal record includes attempt to murder, robbery, snatching, and Arms Act violations. Their arrest, police said, will help reduce spate of snatching incidents in the Delhi–Gurugram belt.

In another major breakthrough, the Crime Branch, Sector 17, arrested Manish alias Goga (28), a dreaded criminal of the Udyog Vihar area. Police tracked him near the Dwarka Expressway on November 21. He was wanted for firing at and assaulting a youth on Old Delhi Road near Sector 21, following which a case was registered at Palam Vihar Police Station.Goga has 20 criminal cases registered against him, covering- murder, attempt to murder, extortion,kidnapping, gang activities,robbery and Arms Act violations. His arrest, the police said, will severely disrupt active criminal syndicates operating in and around Udyog Vihar.

With 4,566 arrests already made, the campaign has significantly weakened both local and inter-district criminal networks.
