Criminals in Panic as Statewide Crackdown Sends Clear Message — ‘No Place to Hide’

Chandigarh:  Haryana Police’s ambitious anti-crime drive, ‘Operation Trackdown’, has roared into action with spectacular success. Within just the first two days of the campaign — which runs from November 5 to 20 — police teams across the state have arrested 56 wanted and notorious criminals, along with 602 other accused individuals, signalling a strong and coordinated offensive against organised crime.

Swift and Strategic Start

The crackdown began on November 5, when police units across Haryana arrested 32 wanted criminals in a single day. On November 6, another 24 hardened offenders were nabbed, along with 252 other accused linked to various crimes. In the same period, nine new history sheets were opened to maintain updated records and prepare for bail cancellations of repeat offenders.

Officials said the twin goals of the campaign are to neutralise active gangs and prevent future crimes by targeting their ecosystem — from financiers and facilitators to field operatives.

Leadership and Execution

Under the dynamic leadership of Director General of Police (DGP) O.P. Singh, ‘Operation Trackdown’ has been designed as a multi-tier strategy executed simultaneously at police stations, district, and state levels. Each police station has identified its five most wanted criminals, while district-level units are focusing on their top ten offenders. At the apex, the Special Task Force (STF) has short-listed 20 of the most dangerous criminals operating across Haryana for immediate action. “The focus is not only on arrests but on dismantling criminal networks and sending a strong message that crime will not be tolerated anywhere in Haryana,” a senior police official said.

Public Partnership and Transparency

To make ‘Operation Trackdown’ a joint mission of police and citizens, IG Crime has publicly shared his personal mobile number – 90342-90495 – urging people to share information about wanted criminals or their movements confidentially. Police said the aim is to ensure that citizens become active stakeholders in maintaining law and order.

Inter-State Coordination

The Haryana Police has strengthened coordination with neighbouring states, including Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Chandigarh. Joint raids and cross-border warrant executions are underway in border districts to prevent offenders from evading arrest by crossing into other jurisdictions.

Senior officials said this inter-state cooperation is proving crucial in tracking gangs operating across state lines, particularly those involved in vehicle theft, extortion, and cyber fraud.

Zero Tolerance for Crime

The DGP reiterated that the campaign’s goal is not limited to short-term arrests. The broader focus is on revoking bail of habitual offenders, freezing their illegal assets, and ensuring swift prosecution.

“The first two days of Operation Trackdown have shown encouraging results. Haryana Police’s message is loud and clear — there is no haven for criminals in the state. This is a victory not just for the force but for every law-abiding citizen,” DGP O.P. Singh stated.

Officials confirmed that the operation will intensify further in the coming days, with daily performance reviews and cross-district task forces ensuring that no offender escapes the radar.

As the campaign gathers momentum, police sources said there is visible panic among criminal elements, with many reportedly going underground. With the joint force of public cooperation and precision policing, Operation Trackdown is setting the tone for a new era of zero tolerance against crime in Haryana.
