The Chief Justice of India will be in his home district, Hisar, on January 9 and 10 to attend a series of official and social engagements. On the last day, he will be the chief guest at a felicitation ceremony being organised at his ancestral village school by the Petwar gram panchayat. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini are likely to attend.
Hisar: Chief Justice of India Suryakant will be in his home district, Hisar, on January 9 and 10 to attend a series of official and social engagements. Several programmes in Hisar and Hansi have been finalised.
The Haryana government is hosting a state dinner in his honour, with special arrangements underway at a Lemon Tree hotel in the city. The menu has already been shared with the hotel and will feature an exclusively vegetarian spread.
According to sources, the dinner will include more than 50 dishes. A notable highlight is a traditional Sri Lankan vegetable curry, prepared with coconut milk and curry leaves, which has been specially added to the menu. Punjabi favourites such as sarson ka saag and makki ki roti will also be served, along with eight other varieties of Indian breads. The spread will range from welcome drinks to seven dessert options.
Key items on the menu include paneer roulade, sarson ka saag, dal makhani, dry veg jalfrezi, bharwa aloo khumb, Sri Lankan vegetable curry, seasonal vegetables, golgappa, dahi bhalla, papdi chaat, tawa vegetables, lahsuni dal tadka, beet coffee, tea-tapri snacks, and four varieties of pasta.
Nine types of rotis will be served, including tawa roti, makki ki roti, tandoori roti, naan (plain, stuffed and garlic), laccha paratha, missi roti and onion roti. Desserts will feature kesar rasmalai, chocolate brownie with hot chocolate sauce, truffle butterscotch pastry, gajar ka halwa, jalebi with hot milk, American nuts ice cream and mango ice cream.
Arrival and schedule: As per the current itinerary, the CJI’s aircraft will land at Hisar Airport at 3 pm on January 9. Senior state officials, High Court administrative officers and the Hisar Sessions Judge will receive him. He will then proceed to Hansi to attend a Bar Association event, followed by a high tea hosted by the Hisar Bar. The state dinner will take place later in the evening with High Court judges, judicial officers and senior Haryana government officials in attendance.
On January 10, the CJI will inaugurate the Barwala and Narnaund court complexes before visiting his ancestral village, Petwar. From there, he will attend an alumni meet at his alma mater, Government College, Hisar.
Village felicitation: The CJI’s elder brother, Master Rishikant, said a felicitation ceremony is being organised at the village school by the Petwar gram panchayat. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini are expected to attend. A special lunch is also being planned. Villagers are preparing a grand welcome for the CJI, describing the mood as festive, akin to Diwali celebrations.
Food preferences: Another elder brother of CJI, Shivkant, said that he prefers simple food. His favourites include missi roti, bajra roti, garlic chutney, lassi and moong dal.
