Historic 100 Million Followers Milestone on Instagram

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the world’s most-followed political leader on Instagram, surpassing US President Donald Trump after reaching 100 million followers.

Modi, who joined Instagram in 2014, has steadily built a massive global following, transforming his account into one of the most influential digital platforms among world leaders.

With this achievement, Modi now has more than twice as many Instagram followers as Trump, who currently has around 43.2 million.

Modi’s Digital Reach Exceeds Combined Following of Several Global Leaders

According to official data, Modi’s individual follower count exceeds the combined Instagram following of several prominent world leaders. Among global political figures, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has about 15 million followers, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has 14.4 million, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has 11.6 million, and Argentine President Javier Milei has 6.4 million followers. Officials said the massive digital presence reflects Modi’s global outreach and strong connection with younger audiences worldwide.

PM Modi Leads Indian Political Leaders by Wide Margin

Within India, Modi remains far ahead of other political leaders in terms of Instagram following. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is the second-most-followed Indian political leader, with around 16.1 million followers, followed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, with nearly 12.6 million followers.

The Prime Minister’s strong social media presence has been widely credited with enhancing direct communication between leadership and citizens, strengthening public engagement, and amplifying India’s global digital influence.

Officials said Modi’s Instagram account has evolved into a key platform for sharing governance updates, cultural moments, and international engagements, reinforcing his position as one of the most digitally connected leaders in the world.
