New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 5 pm on Sunday, marking his first public address since May 12, when the Indian military successfully executed Operation Sindoor targeting terror hubs in Pakistan. The address, coming on the eve of Navratri, is widely expected to include a significant announcement and highlights about GST reforms, to be effective Monday onward.
In his last message to the nation on May 12, the Prime Minister had declared that “every terrorist knows the consequences of wiping Sindoor from the foreheads of our sisters and daughters.” Describing Operation Sindoor as an “unwavering pledge for justice,” he said India struck at the very headquarters of terror after Pakistan attempted to destabilise the country by preparing to launch attacks along the border.
PM Modi had then called the operation a “new benchmark” in India’s fight against terrorism, reiterating that while “this is not an era of war, it is not an era of terrorism either,” India’s policy of zero tolerance against terrorism remains firm. He underlined that any future dialogue with Pakistan would focus solely on issues of terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Sunday’s address is expected to build on this message of decisive action and set the tone for India’s national security and foreign policy posture in the months ahead.
