Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday welcomed the Delhi court’s decision to discharge Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case, saying the verdict reaffirmed that truth ultimately prevails.
In a post on X, Mann said, “Truth always triumphs. AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal ji and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia ji have been acquitted by the Hon’ble Delhi Court in the liquor scam case. This decision has brought the truth to light. With time, truth in all other cases will also be revealed.”
A Delhi court had discharged Kejriwal, Sisodia, and 21 others in the case, refusing to take cognisance of the chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation, citing lack of evidence.
AAP Leaders Accuse Centre of Misusing Agencies to Target Party
Punjab AAP president and Cabinet minister Aman Arora also welcomed the verdict and alleged that central agencies were used to target the party politically.
“Justice can be delayed but not denied. This false and fabricated liquor scam case has once again proven that central agencies were misused to defame the Aam Aadmi Party’s politics of honesty,” Arora said in a social media statement.
He added that the court’s ruling had exposed what he described as a conspiracy to damage the credibility of AAP leadership.
Verdict Seen as Major Political Boost for AAP Leadership
The court’s discharge order, which cleared all 23 accused, marked a significant legal victory for Kejriwal and Sisodia, who had faced prolonged investigation and legal scrutiny over the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy.
AAP leaders said the verdict vindicated their long-standing claim that the allegations were baseless and politically motivated.
The development is expected to have wider political implications, especially as AAP prepares for key electoral battles in multiple states, including Punjab, where the party is seeking to consolidate its governance and political position.
