Chandigarh: In a significant top-level reshuffle within the Punjab Police, the state government on Sunday effected a multi-level rejig of senior IPS officers, with Dr Sharad Satya Chauhan appointed as Special DGP-cum-Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau, SAS Nagar — the most prominent change in the order.

The Key Moves

Dr Sharad Satya Chauhan takes over as Vigilance Bureau chief, replacing PK Sinha, who has been posted as OSD, Law & Order, Chandigarh, until April 30. Sinha will assume full charge as Special DGP, Law & Order, from May 1, upon the superannuation of incumbent Arpit Shukla on April 30. Ram Singh, Special DGP, Technical Support Services, has been given additional charge as Special DGP-cum-Commandant General, Punjab Home Guards and Director, Civil Defence, while retaining his existing portfolio.

Arun Pal Singh, ADGP, Jails, has been transferred as Managing Director, Punjab Police Housing Corporation, SAS Nagar — the post vacated by Dr Chauhan. RK Jaiswal, ADGP, NRI Affairs, has been given additional charge of ADGP, Jails — filling the vacancy left by Arun Pal Singh. Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, DIG, AGTF, has been placed at the disposal of the DGP, Punjab, pending a fresh posting.

All officers have been directed to join their new assignments immediately. The order was issued with the approval of the Punjab Governor by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Alok Shekhar.
