State government coordinates with Centre amid escalating conflict; families urged to contact dedicated control room

Chandigarh: Amid escalating conflict across several parts of the Middle East, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday announced the establishment of a dedicated 24×7 helpline and control room to assist Punjabis stranded in the war-affected region and support their families back home.

Describing the situation as deeply concerning, Mann said the Punjab government has taken immediate steps to ensure continuous assistance and coordination with the Government of India for the safe and swift evacuation of affected citizens.

“Due to the outbreak of serious conflicts in certain Arab countries, many Punjabis are facing grave difficulties. The state government has set up a round-the-clock helpline and control room to address their concerns without delay,” Mann said in an official statement.

Dedicated Helpline and WhatsApp Support for Families

The Chief Minister urged families of stranded individuals to immediately contact the government through the dedicated emergency numbers:

  • Helpline: 0172-2260042

  • Helpline: 0172-2260043

  • WhatsApp: +91-94787-79112

Officials said the control room will provide real-time assistance, facilitate communication, and coordinate evacuation-related support for affected citizens. “The Punjab government stands shoulder-to-shoulder with families of our youth, workers and students stranded in Gulf countries. We are committed to providing all necessary help,” Mann emphasised.

Punjab in Constant Touch with Centre for Safe Evacuation

Mann said the state government is maintaining close coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and other central agencies to ensure the prompt evacuation and safe return of Punjabis caught in the conflict zones.

He urged the Union Government to take immediate and decisive action to evacuate Indian nationals, especially those from Punjab, who are currently facing uncertainty and risk in the region.

“The Union Government must intervene swiftly to bring our people back home safely. Punjab will extend full cooperation to facilitate their return,” Mann said. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that coordinated efforts between the state and central governments would ensure the safety and early return of stranded Punjabis, providing much-needed relief to anxious families awaiting their loved ones.
