Chandigarh: As floodwaters continue to wreak havoc across Punjab’s 23 districts, the state government on Wednesday ordered the closure of all educational institutions until September 7. The directive covers all government, aided, recognised, and private schools, colleges, universities, and polytechnics across the state.
Officials said the step was taken purely as a precautionary measure to safeguard students, teachers, and staff amid rising water levels and large-scale relief operations. Authorities have also urged citizens to stay alert, follow official safety advisories, and avoid non-essential travel in the affected districts. Decisions on reopening will be taken after reviewing the situation closer to the date, they added.
