Amritsar: The family of deceased Punjab Warehousing Corporation district manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa on Monday expressed strong resentment over the delay in the arrest of former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar and others named in the abetment-to-suicide case, issuing a 24-hour ultimatum to the government.

Addressing the media on Monday morning , Randhawa’s widow, Upinder Kaur, said that if the accused are not arrested within the stipulated time, the family will be forced to launch a protest. “We want justice. If arrests are not made within 24 hours, we will be compelled to start an agitation,” she said.

Family Questions Government’s Role

Randhawa’s daughter also questioned the state government’s handling of the case, alleging preferential treatment. “Because Laljit Bhullar was a minister, he has not been arrested. If it were a common man, the police would have taken immediate action,” she said. The family has maintained that Randhawa took the extreme step after being under immense pressure and harassment, allegedly linked to the former minister.

Post-Mortem Yet to Be Conducted

Even two days after the incident, the post-mortem examination has not been conducted, as the family continues to insist that it will not allow the procedure until all the accused are taken into custody.

CCTV Video Surfaces

Meanwhile, a purported CCTV video showing Randhawa allegedly consuming poison has surfaced on social media, adding to the public attention surrounding the case.

Case Background

The Punjab Police has already registered a case against Bhullar and others under charges including abetment to suicide, following allegations by the family that Randhawa was subjected to threats, intimidation and sustained pressure. With the family issuing an ultimatum and protests looming, the case has emerged as a major political flashpoint in Punjab, putting pressure on the government to act swiftly.
