Reliance Jio unveils Jio TV Plus, its new service for JioFber users

NEW DELHI: Reliance Jio has announced that its JioFiber set-top-box users will now be able to watch content using its latest offering called JioTV Plus. The company made this announcement at its 43rd annual general meeting.
JioTV Plus is a content aggregator that claims to offer TV channels, shows, and movies from various apps and services. The company announced that JioTV Plus offers content from 12 different global OTT players which include Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney Hotstar, Voot, JioCinema, SonyLiv, JioSaavn, YouTube, and others.
Along with this, the company also mentioned that users can access various online applications from different genres from the Jio App Store present on the set-top box. “Through the Jio Developers program, any app developer can develop, launch, and monetize their apps. Developers who wish to partner with Jio can visit for details,” said the company.
Along with this, Reliance also announced that it is going to enter the 5G segment in India. The company made the announcement at the same AGM. “Today, I have great pride in announcing that Jio has designed and developed a complete 5G solution from scratch. This will enable us to launch a world-class 5G service in India, using 100% homegrown technologies and solutions,” said Ambani while addressing the shareholders, prospective investors, media and the general public.
Meanwhile, Reliance Industries Limited, Jio Platforms Limited and Google LLC announced the signing of binding agreements for an investment of ₹ 33,737 crore by Google into Jio Platforms. This investment by Google values Jio Platforms at an equity value of ₹ 4.36 lakh crore. Google’s investment will translate into a 7.73% equity stake in Jio Platforms on a fully diluted basis. With this, the total investment from financial and strategic investors into Jio Platforms stands at ₹ 1,52,056 crore.
