Kaur Says, ‘Will Always Be With Congress’

Chandigarh: Suspended Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Wednesday asserted that she and her husband, former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, will “always remain with the Congress”, even as she escalated her attack on Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, accusing him of “destroying” the party from within.

Kaur was suspended on Monday after her explosive remark suggesting that “Rs 500 crore is needed to become the chief minister,” which triggered a major political storm.

In a series of posts on X, Kaur wrote, “We are and will always be with the Congress and win our Punjab state and gift it to our own humble, loving and sacrificing Gandhi family.” She further claimed that 70 “efficient, honest and loyal” leaders, allegedly sidelined by the current leadership, were in touch with her.

Kaur Intensifies Attack: Says Tickets ‘Sold’, Accuses Warring of Collusion

Continuing her offensive, Kaur alleged that many Congress tickets in Punjab had “already been sold” and questioned Warring’s leadership, asking why he had lost his own constituency twice.

She accused him of “working against the party, destroying winnable seats, and colluding with the opposition to defeat Congress candidates.”
Kaur also alleged that Warring had distorted her earlier remarks, forcing her to respond publicly. She reiterated that she never claimed the Congress asked her for money, but only answered a question on why her husband had not been projected as CM.

In a personal attack, she accused Warring of corruption, claiming he was “kicked out of Gujarat for selling tickets” and acquired property disproportionate to his income. She also accused him of alienating large sections of the Congress’s Ambedkarite support base.

Warring Hits Back, Says All Conspiracies Will Fail

Responding to the escalating feud, Warring on Tuesday said that any conspiracy to weaken the Congress in Punjab would be defeated, accusing unnamed leaders of “speaking the language of the party’s enemies” as Assembly elections draw closer.

The internal rift has come at a time when the Congress is trying to rebuild momentum for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, even as rival parties have begun capitalising on the controversy. Despite her suspension, Kaur maintained that she remains in discussions with the party High Command and insisted that her fight is only against “those destroying the party.”
