Chandigarh: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will be on a day-long visit to Haryana on Friday, October 3, during which he will inaugurate the ₹325-crore Sabar Dairy Plant at IMT Rohtak and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth nearly ₹825 crore in Kurukshetra.
Shah’s visit is being seen as politically significant as he is scheduled to address a public rally in Rohtak, the stronghold of former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Asia’s Largest Curd and Yogurt Facility
According to a state government spokesperson, the Rohtak dairy facility is India’s largest production centre for curd, buttermilk, and yogurt. Equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, the plant will have the capacity to produce 150 metric tonnes of curd, 3 lakh litres of buttermilk, 10 lakh litres of yogurt, and 10 metric tonnes of sweets daily.
The project is expected to generate around 1,000 jobs, both directly and indirectly, while boosting Haryana’s cooperative and dairy sector.
Empowering Artisans through ‘Khadi Karigar Mahotsav’
Shah will also participate in the ‘Khadi Karigar Mahotsav’ at Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. Organised by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) under the Ministry of MSME, the event carries the theme ‘Swadeshi Se Swaavlamban’ (From Indigenous to Self-reliant).
On this occasion, he will distribute modern tool kits to 2,200 artisans, inaugurate PMEGP units, and hand over ₹301 crore as margin money under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). The initiative seeks to promote self-employment, upgrade traditional skills, and strengthen the spirit of local entrepreneurship.
Spotlight on New Criminal Laws in Kurukshetra
In Kurukshetra, Shah will inaugurate a five-day exhibition showcasing reforms under India’s new criminal laws. The exhibition will be divided into 10 thematic sections representing the work of seven key departments, aimed at making legal reforms accessible to lawyers, students, parents, and common citizens.
The display will highlight how the new legal framework ensures speedier trials, greater use of technology, and quicker resolution of cases, thereby strengthening public trust in the justice system.
Development Push in Kurukshetra
Later in the day, the Home Minister will launch and lay the foundation of development projects worth ₹825 crore in Kurukshetra. These projects focus on infrastructure upgradation, youth empowerment, and job creation, in line with the joint vision of the Central and State governments to raise living standards in Haryana. “The projects are expected to accelerate Haryana’s progress, create employment opportunities, and set new benchmarks in development,” a government spokesperson said.
