Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to Visit Flood-Hit Punjab on Thursday

Chandigarh: Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will visit flood-ravaged areas of Punjab on Thursday, September 4, to review the damage and assess the requirements of affected farmers.

Chouhan confirmed his visit on Wednesday, adding that he would be accompanied by Union Minister of State for Railways and Rajya Sabha MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, along with Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar.

Earlier in the day, Chouhan held discussions with Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to understand the scale of devastation caused by incessant rain.

“In this hour of crisis, the Central Government stands firmly with the brothers and sisters of Punjab and will provide all possible assistance,” Chouhan said, stressing that the Centre is committed to extending relief to farmers. Accross the Punjab all 23 districts  currently facing its worst floods with thousands displaced and vast tracts of farmland submerged.
