Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, leading a high-level delegation on an official visit to Japan, held a series of bilateral meetings with senior Japanese ministers and top corporate leaders to deepen economic, industrial and cultural cooperation between Haryana and Japan.
On the first day of the visit, the state government signed six Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with leading Japanese corporations. These agreements are expected to bring investments worth ₹1,185 crore to Haryana and generate employment opportunities for over 13,000 youth across key sectors.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Chief Principal Secretary Rajesh Khullar, Principal Secretary Arun Kumar Gupta, Commissioner and Secretary (Industries and Commerce) Dr Amit Kumar Agrawal, Commissioner and Secretary (Foreign Cooperation) Amneet P Kumar, and HSIIDC Managing Director Dr Yash Garg, among other senior officials.
In his meeting with Miyaji Takuma, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Chief Minister invited Japan to be a partner country at the upcoming Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit 2026, scheduled for April next year. The discussions focused on enhancing trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges between the two economies.
Later, Saini met Koga Yuichiro, Minister of State at Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), to explore collaboration in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and emerging sectors such as green energy, future mobility, advanced electronics, semiconductors, digital transformation, and infrastructure.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy. Haryana is committed to attracting global investments and creating a robust industrial ecosystem. Strengthening ties with a technologically advanced nation like Japan will open new avenues for innovation, industry and employment,” Saini said.
The delegation also held discussions with several top Japanese companies including AISIN, Air Water, TASI, Nambu, Denso, Sojitz, Nissin, Kawakin, and Toppan, resulting in the six MoUs signed. In a separate meeting with TDK Corporation, possibilities for collaboration in electronics, sensors and magnetic materials were discussed. TDK’s subsidiary, ATL Battery, is already setting up India’s largest lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant in Sohna, Haryana — a project seen as pivotal to India’s electric mobility ambitions.
The Chief Minister also attended the International Gita Mahotsav in Japan, where he highlighted the universal values of the Bhagavad Gita. “The Gita is not just a religious scripture but a philosophy of life that inspires peace, harmony and global cooperation,” he said.
