New Delhi: Former Army chief Manoj Mukund Naravane on Tuesday said his memoir, Four Stars of Destiny, has not been published, sharing a clarification issued by the publisher, Penguin Random House India, amid growing public confusion.

“This is the status of the book,” Naravane wrote on X, reposting Penguin India’s statement that no copies of the book—“in print or digital form”—have been published, distributed, sold or otherwise made available to the public.
Penguin said it holds the sole publishing rights to the memoir and reiterated that the book has not gone into publication. In a subsequent clarification on Tuesday, the publisher added that announcements about a title or its availability for pre-order should not be construed as publication.
The issue drew political attention after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi cited an earlier social media post by Naravane suggesting the book was “available now,” saying he believed the former Army chief’s word over the publisher’s claim.
The publisher maintained that the memoir remains unpublished and sought to settle the controversy over its status.
