Mohali: At least 10 private schools in Mohali received bomb threat emails on Wednesday, triggering panic among students, parents and staff and prompting immediate evacuation of campuses.

Among the affected institutions were Yadavindra Public School, Learning Paths School, Manav Mangal School, Shivalik Public School, Paragon Senior Secondary School and Infant Jesus School. School authorities acted swiftly, evacuating students as a precautionary measure. Bomb disposal squads and anti-sabotage teams were deployed to search the premises thoroughly. Police officials said no suspicious objects had been found so far, and investigations are underway to trace the origin of the threatening emails.

Mohali District Education Officer Ginni Duggal confirmed that while no government schools have reported any threats, 8 to 10 private schools have informed her that they have received emails. She immediately apprised Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and senior police officials.

According to officials, some of the emails mentioned February 11, while others referred to February 13 as possible dates of concern. Education Department teams and district administration officials have been dispatched to the affected schools, and management has been advised to keep campuses closed and cooperate fully with security agencies.

Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal is closely monitoring the situation. Authorities said efforts are also underway to develop mechanisms to prevent such misleading or diversionary threats in the future.
