CHANDIGARH: The Legal Cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Chandigarh on Tuesday announced the appointment of new District Convenors as part of an organisational restructuring exercise aimed at strengthening the party’s legal outreach and coordination across the city.
The appointments were made with the approval of Chandigarh BJP State President Jatinder Pal Malhotra and with the consent of State Cell and Department Coordinator Shakti Prakash Devshali.
The official appointment list was issued by Ranjan Lohan, who stated that the newly appointed district convenors would help strengthen the party’s organisational functioning and legal representation at the grassroots level.
Newly appointed District Convenors
According to the notification, the following advocates have been assigned responsibility for their respective organisational districts in Chandigarh:
- Shaheed Bhagat Singh District – Tarun Dhingra
- Rani Laxmi Bai District – J S Jaidka
- Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee District – Vijay K Aggarwal
- Bharat Ratna Atal District – Sanjeev Patiyal
- Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar District – Ayush Ahuja
- Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay District – Tarun Gupta
Party leaders said the appointments have come into effect immediately and are intended to ensure smoother coordination of legal activities, organisational representation, and support for party programmes across various districts of Chandigarh.
The BJP Legal Cell plays a key role in coordinating legal matters related to party activities, public outreach, constitutional awareness, and organisational affairs. Leaders said the fresh appointments are expected to strengthen the party’s legal and institutional framework ahead of upcoming political and organisational engagements in the Union Territory.
