CM Nayab Singh Saini Unveils Major Initiatives at State-Level Event in Kurukshetra

Haryana celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day with unmatched enthusiasm and scale, reaffirming its commitment to making yoga a people’s movement. Over 1 lakh people gathered at Brahma Sarovar, Kurukshetra, for the state-level celebration, while 20 lakh participants joined yoga sessions across all 22 districts and 121 blocks, turning the state into a vast arena of collective mindfulness.

Extending greetings on Yoga Day from the land of the Bhagavad Gita, CM Nayab Singh Saini lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for restoring yoga’s global stature and inspiring millions with his call: Khelega Bharat, toh Khilega Bharat; Yoga ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz.”

He also acknowledged the tireless efforts of Baba Ramdev, who has taken Indian yoga to the global stage and reconnected millions with traditional wellness.

The event was led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, in the presence of Governor Bandaru Dattatraya, AYUSH and Health Minister Kumari Arti Singh Rao, MP Naveen Jindal, and renowned yoga and Ayurveda personalities including Yoga Guru Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna.

 Announcements by CM  

  • Yoga Writer Incentive Scheme:
    A new scheme to promote academic writing and research on yoga in universities. Outstanding writers will be recognized annually.

  • 100 New Vyayamshalas:
    To expand grassroots access to yoga, 100 new Yoga and Vyayamshalas will be set up this financial year, in addition to the existing 883.

  • Credit-Based Yoga Evaluation in Schools:
    All government schools will adopt a credit-based assessment system for students’ yoga performance.

  • Uniform Curriculum for Higher Education:
    A standardized yoga curriculum will soon be implemented across all universities and colleges in Haryana.

  • Recognition of Yoga & Naturopathy under AYUSH:
    Yoga and naturopathy will be formally recognized under AYUSH, and government registration of practitioners will begin shortly.

  • Yoga as a Sport:
    Recruitment of 40 yoga instructors will begin under the Sports Department to prepare athletes for national and international competitions.

  • 5-Minute Yoga Break in Government Offices:
    A daily 5-minute yoga break will now be observed in all government offices to enhance employee well-being and productivity.

  • International Meditation Hall in Kurukshetra:
    An International Meditation Hall will be constructed at Shri Krishna AYUSH University, establishing the state as a hub for yogic study and research.

Yoga is the Foundation of Life : Ramdev

Leading the session at Brahma Sarovar,Ramdev emphasized that yoga is not just a set of exercises but a complete way of life, encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Recalling the historic moment in 2014 when 177 nations supported PM Modi’s proposal for International Yoga Day at the UN, he noted that today, over 200 countries observe June 21 as a celebration of holistic health.

He praised the Haryana government for its visionary steps under CM Saini’s leadership, saying the state has become a model in promoting yoga as both heritage and modern wellness science.

On this occasion, CM Saini released three publications by Patanjali Yogpeeth, including a yoga protocol booklet by the Haryana Yog Aayog, and a biographical compilation on Ramdev’s yoga journey.
