Chandigarh: Reaffirming its commitment to provide timely relief to flood-hit families, the Punjab Government on Tuesday released a total of ₹71 crore as immediate assistance for relief and rehabilitation.
Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government is determined to compensate people for their losses and ensure that no affected family is left unattended.
He noted that while ₹35.50 crore had been released to all districts in the first phase, an additional ₹35.50 crore has now been sanctioned specifically for the 12 worst-affected districts.

Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner Revenue Anurag Verma said the funds are meant to support urgent rescue, relief and rehabilitation works in the affected regions. Mundian added that the government’s priority is not only to provide immediate relief but also to ensure long-term rehabilitation, with a special focus on farmers who have suffered extensive crop losses.“Every possible step is being taken to safeguard lives and property. The Mann government is committed to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of Punjab in this hour of crisis,” Mundian said.
