Massive Arrangements for PM’s Key Events at International Gita Mahotsav
Chandigarh: On the occasion of International Gita Mahotsav–2025 and the 350th Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Kurukshetra is set to witness one of its most significant VVIP events today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives to inaugurate major spiritual and cultural projects. The Prime Minister will unveil the Jyotisar Panchjanya Memorial and the Jyotisar Anubhav Kendra — an immersive experience centre depicting episodes from the Mahabharata — and later participate in the evening aarti at the iconic Brahma Sarovar, making this one of the most significant spiritual gatherings in recent years.
With lakhs of pilgrims, devotees, and visitors expected to converge at Kurukshetra for the Mahotsav, the mood in the region is a blend of anticipation, reverence, and heightened administrative readiness. The PM’s presence at the celebrations is being viewed as a significant moment for the international religious festival, drawing attention from across the country and abroad.
DGP Reviews Security Grid as Kurukshetra Turns High Alert Zone
To ensure an incident-free visit, unprecedented multi-layered security arrangements have been implemented across Kurukshetra. According to officials, 14 IPS officers, 54 DSPs, and over 5,000 police personnel — including male and female constables from different districts — are on the ground. Security teams have been deployed throughout the day and night at the Jyotisar inauguration site, Purushottampura Bagh, the Gita Mahotsav complex, and all stretches of the PM’s movement route.
Director General of Police O.P. Singh, who personally reviewed the arrangements on Sunday, issued a strict advisory to all units, stating that “even the slightest negligence during the Prime Minister’s visit will not be tolerated.” He instructed officers to remain stationed at “every inch” of the PM’s route, with additional monitoring via high-resolution CCTV cameras, drone surveillance (permitted only for police), and real-time command centre tracking.
During his inspection at Jyotisar and Purushottampura Bagh, the DGP was accompanied by ADGP Law & Order Sanjay Kumar, ADGP CID Saurabh Singh, IGP CID Ashok Kumar, IGP Ambala Range Pankaj Nain, and Kurukshetra SP Nitish Agarwal. The senior officers directed field teams to ensure that crowd movement, traffic flow, and emergency response systems remain flawless.
PM’s Cultural, Religious Schedule in Focus
Given the large crowds expected during the PM’s visit and the significance of the programme sites, a complete ban on drones and gliders has been enforced across Kurukshetra. SP Nitish Agarwal confirmed that no organisation, institution, or individual will be allowed to operate drones today, adding that SHOs and field officers have been thoroughly briefed on enforcement.
The Prime Minister’s schedule includes a detailed tour of the Jyotisar Panchjanya Memorial, where he will pay homage to the sacred site believed to be the place where Lord Krishna delivered the Bhagavad Gita. The newly built Jyotisar Anubhav Kendra — centred on Mahabharata narratives through digital exhibits, immersive galleries, and interactive storytelling — will be formally unveiled by him.
In the evening, PM Modi will join thousands of devotees at the Brahma Sarovar aarti, a majestic spectacle forming the spiritual core of the Gita Mahotsav. The administration has created separate corridors for VIP movement, public entry, and emergency services at the Sarovar to ensure seamless flow during the peak hours of devotional gatherings.
