Airline Flight Operations Recovering: Govt
New Delhi: The government on Sunday announced that IndiGo has processed refunds amounting to ₹610 crore for passengers affected by mass cancellations and severe delays. At the same time 3,000 pieces of stranded baggage have been delivered across the country. The update comes as flight operations gradually return to normal after a week-long nationwide disruption.
Refunds, Rebooking and Passenger Assistance Intensified
Following the Centre’s directive to complete all refunds by Sunday evening, the civil aviation ministry said IndiGo had made “substantial progress” toward clearing the backlog.“No rescheduling fee will be charged from passengers whose travel plans were hit,” the ministry said, adding that dedicated support cells are now proactively contacting travellers to resolve refund, rebooking and assistance requests without delay. The government reiterated that any baggage separated from passengers during the disruption must be tracked and delivered within 48 hours, a process that is already underway.
Flight Operations Nearing Normal Levels
According to the ministry, IndiGo’s network has shown a steady upward recovery 706 flights operated on Friday, 1,565 on Saturday and likely to reach 1,650 by Sunday. The government said the overall domestic aviation network is stabilising “at a fast pace,” with all other airlines operating smoothly and at full capacity. MoCA emphasised that all corrective measures will remain in place until IndiGo fully restores normal operations and passengers stop experiencing disruptions.
