Chandigarh:  The alums of the 1976 batch of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sector 47 came together on Sunday to celebrate their Golden Jubilee, marking 50 years of friendship, memories and shared achievements. The grand alums meet, held on the school campus, brought together former students from across the country along with teachers and staff, turning the occasion into a nostalgic journey down memory lane.

The highlight of the event was the presence of RKS Bhadauria, former Chief of the Air Staff and a proud alumnus of the 1976 batch. Addressing students and fellow alums, Air Chief Marshal Bhadauria recalled his school days and underlined the importance of discipline, hard work and values in achieving excellence. He said the foundation laid during school years plays a crucial role in shaping future leaders.

The celebrations began with scouts escorting the alums onto the campus, followed by a warm welcome address by the Principal, who highlighted the school’s achievements over the decades and thanked the alums for their continued association and support. Alums then introduced themselves, sharing personal stories and career journeys that inspired the current students.

Several alums credited the school’s emphasis on holistic development, discipline and extracurricular activities for their professional success. Dr Manjit Brar, former college principal, said that teachers’ encouragement to read widely and explore ideas helped him build confidence and pursue his passion for teaching.

Adding a lively touch to the day, alums revisited old classrooms, reminisced about favourite teachers and friendships, and relived cherished moments from their school years. A friendly hockey match, led by Brigadier Jatinder S Arora, between alums and students drew enthusiastic participation and applause, followed by a group photograph to mark the occasion.

Entrepreneur Mukul Bansal proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to Dr Rakesh Gupta, former DHS Punjab, Capt Pradeep Gupta and Dr Inderjit S Kang for coordinating with the school authorities and alums to make the event a success.

The Golden Jubilee meet not only celebrated five decades of shared memories but also reaffirmed the enduring bond between the alumni and their alma mater, reinforcing Kendriya Vidyalaya Sector 47’s legacy as an institution that continues to inspire generations.
