New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India is entering into trade and mobility agreements with several countries to create new employment and skill opportunities for the youth, both within the country and overseas.
Addressing the 18th Rozgar Mela via video conferencing, the Prime Minister electronically handed over 61,000 appointment letters to newly recruited candidates across 45 locations nationwide.
“India is signing trade and mobility agreements with many countries. These trade agreements are opening up new opportunities for the youth of the nation,” Modi said. He added that India has the largest youth population in the world, and the government is focused on ensuring meaningful employment avenues for them domestically as well as abroad.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Rozgar Mela is a flagship initiative aimed at accelerating employment generation and fulfilling the government’s commitment to prioritise job creation.
Since the launch of the Rozgar Mela initiative, over 11 lakh appointment letters have been issued to candidates recruited through similar drives held across the country, the statement said.
The newly appointed recruits, selected from different parts of India, will join various central ministries and departments, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services, and the Department of Higher Education, among others. The Prime Minister reiterated that empowering the youth through jobs and skills remains central to India’s growth story and its emergence as a global economic force.
