Chandigarh: The younger brother of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, popularly known as Nikka Sidhu (Junior Sidhu), turned two on Tuesday, with social media flooded with birthday wishes from fans of the slain artist.
Nikka Sidhu, whose official name is also Shubhdeep Singh, continues to draw public attention because of the enduring popularity of his elder brother. Many fans often remark on the child’s resemblance to the late singer. Soon after his birth, a photograph of Nikka Sidhu with his father, Balkaur Singh, was displayed on a billboard in Times Square, New York, attracting widespread attention online.
Last year, his first birthday was celebrated in the presence of family members and close associates. Former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi had also attended the celebrations and was seen with Sidhu’s parents, Balkaur Singh and Charan Kaur, during the cake-cutting ceremony. Photos and videos from the event had circulated widely on social media.
Nikka Sidhu was born nearly two years after the death of Sidhu Moosewala, with the family welcoming the child through in vitro fertilisation (IVF). Sidhu Moosewala, whose real name was Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was shot dead on May 29, 2022, in Jawaharke village. His killing had sent shockwaves across the music industry and among fans worldwide.
