Building on the momentum of its successful “YogYukt, Nasha Mukt Haryana” campaign held on International Yoga Day (June 21), Haryana is now set to observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26 with renewed vigour.

The observance marks the culmination of the “Nasha Mukat Bharat Pakhwada” (June 12–26)—a national campaign aimed at reinforcing public awareness and prevention strategies against substance abuse.

The Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) has issued comprehensive guidelines to all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs), emphasising visible, community-driven campaigns anchored in collaboration, enforcement, and outreach.

Prevention is the Message :

This year’s global theme—“The evidence is clear: invest in prevention”—aligns closely with Haryana’s integrated strategy of combining awareness, early intervention, and vigorous law enforcement.

Districts have been directed to organise a wide range of activities, including Awareness rallies and marathons, Street plays and cultural programs, School and college-based sessions, and community dialogue events. In parallel, law enforcement units will highlight their achievements in drug seizures, financial crackdowns, and legal action under the PIT-NDPS Act, including recent convictions in cases involving commercial quantities.

Recognition and Reporting: District administrations have also been asked to honour local NGOs, educators and volunteers, youth in recovery, who have contributed to prevention and rehabilitation efforts All districts must compile a comprehensive report—detailing events, enforcement action, and outreach efforts over the last six months—along with photographs, videos, and media coverage. These reports are to be submitted to HSNCB Headquarters by June 28 and will contribute to Haryana’s submission to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The HSNCB has emphasised cross-departmental collaboration, urging active involvement from the Education, Health, Social Welfare, and Excise departments, as well as partnerships with NGOs, panchayats, urban local bodies, and the media.

“This is not just a one-day event—it’s about shaping safer communities,” said OP Singh, DGP & Head, HSNCB. “We are channelling the spirit of YogYukt into concrete, sustained anti-drug action through prevention, participation, and enforcement.” As Haryana marks June 26, the message is clear: the state stands united in its resolve for a “Nasha Mukat Haryana”—powered by public participation and institutional commitment.
